Anni Matsick has over 30 years experience as a freelancer illustrating for major publishers in the children’s market. She is known for her excellent drawing skills and her ability to sensitively portray ethnicity and emotional range. Her work is done traditionally in watercolor on paper.

Anni holds 3 Highlights for Children magazine Pewter Plate Awards for best of issue and best of year and is widely known for having illustrated their popular Goofus and Gallant feature for 9 years, through 2004.

Recent picture book titles are the multi-award winning Dinosaurs Living in My Hair! by Jayne Rose-Vallee, and The Boy Who Opened Our Eyes by Elaine Sussman (Lightswitch Press). Most recently, she provided artwork for Brattle Publishing’s project, Read Liberia.

In children’s illustration the artist is represented by Cornell & Company, LLC.

Anni’s watercolor paintings have been juried into many exhibits and won numerous awards. Two paintings of children were chosen for publication in Splash 19 Best of Watercolor: The Illusion of Light from North Light Books.

Anni holds a BFA in Painting from Carnegie Mellon University. Her studio is located in central Pennsylvania where she lives with her husband.
